Session

Creating INFORMATION_SCHEMA Tables

Mike Kruckenberg, Principal Software Engineer, OpenAir

Track: Architecture and Technology
Date: Thursday, April 26
Time: 10:45am - 11:45am
Location: Ballroom E

The INFORMATION_SCHEMA meta-database provides a wealth of information about your database, all retrievable using SQL statements. The virtual database is also not that difficult to extend. With a few pointers to the right spots in the source code and time to hack up some code, you can create your own INFORMATION_SCHEMA table.

This session will be take a step-by-step walk through creating a new INFORMATION_SCHEMA table by modifying the MySQL source code and compiling your new table into the MySQL binary. Bring your laptop and follow along if you've got an idea of your own for increasing the power of the INFORMATION_SCHEMA.
